Rita Simone is a peculiar representative of the graphic art community. Her visual language is recognizable by the monochromatic palette the artist uses. Among the countless numbers of colors, she prefers black because it gives all the variations of shades Simone is interested in. This achromatic color scheme is able to highlight different emotions and moods that help Simone to deliver her message to the viewer.
Simone is a trained academic tradition artist, who expresses herself with the help of complex compositions, which sometimes form a pulsing living being. This way we may see the inner struggle the artist has on a daily basis: transition from one form to another. The transition itself is an interesting research object for many Russian artists of all sorts. This way they connect to the binary nature of their history that gives no room for calmness. As for Simone, she experienced gender transformation herself, so the echoes of it are the constant visual interpretation in her art.
Dark silhouettes mixed with brightish shades became the artist's visual signature. In some of her pieces, we can also find influences from such artists as Vadim Sidur and Jackson Pollock. This tells us a lot about Simone and her oeuvre, where modern art traditions are well preserved. She also tells a story about a fragile life of a person, who differs from others, which is one of the main hidden motives one can find in her isolated city landscapes.
