Here I would like to highlight the series with the invisible man in it. The story of the invisible man was first described by H.G. Wells in the sci-fi novel which has the same name. His character was a scientist who lived at the end of the 19th century. But Durnev's hero is our contemporary: he wears fancy clothes, stays fit, and lives the life of Riley. Such a choice of a model leads us to a suspicion that the artist wants to play a little with the post-truth concept – we cannot be sure the invisible man is real or not unless we check it ourselves. Until that, we are forced to believe in any picture of this person's life that Durnev offers us as his viewers. The background of these pictures demonstrates minimalistic landscapes, which we can see from one of the windows in, possibly, the invisible man's mansions.
So, who Ivan Durnev's invisible man is? A role model, a social media influencer, or a simple ohmage to a classical fiction character? The answer to this question remains a mystery because the artist himself states that he wants his viewers to make their own decision.
