Bubblegum World
Project by Alisa Danelian
Alice, in her project "Bubblegum World" highlights the problem of increasing global waste and the alternative, to combat it, the recycling culture.Harmless, every day objects are covered with a common piece of gum, exaggeratedly showing what can happen in 10 years if we do not start to live a more eco-conscious way of life. The bubblegum dress emphasises the need for the popularisation of recycling culture, because it's the best way to diminish the increase in global waste. The works are made in a mixed media technique, using photo printers and gum. The choice of props was aimed at transferring the viewer to the real world, because children's toys are something that we have all experienced in life.

Today, a plethora of artists and designers focus on the problem of recycling waste and this leads to positive results for all aspects of our society.

The fact that the popularisation of problems in the field of Art is becoming more fashionable, can only be a good thing for the creative community and the world. When such issues of importance are dealt with, not only by the state but with the help of artists, it helps to solve them, because artists, with their influential platforms help to open society's eyes to these problems.

Alice's project also uses pink and grey as a classic contrasting technique. The contrast signifies the choice of two worlds, a pink prosperous future or a grey and worse one. The choice of which path we follow would be predominantly up to us to decide.

In the image of the artist's "dress", there is a natural body, which is significant for every person. This reminds us that the problem of todays world is here, among us and as real as our own bodies.

In many northern cities in Russia, there are scores of factories and the pollution from them, brings sometimes irreparable damage to the environment. Fortunately, the separation and re-use of recyclable waste can ease this situation.

In many capitals of the world, this has become the law and the norm, which means that one day small northern cities will adopt this standard and the air will become much cleaner.

It is very important we don't stop the discussion of these important topic and leave them as "season fashion", because it's the only way to make our world better
