Look what is going to happen to all of us, if you keep ignoring it
There are a lot of talks about global warming in our society. However, the problem still exists. Perhaps, we should discuss it more and louder. As an artist, Alexandra Cane wanted to make her own contribution to it. I think she did it very well. Her artwork makes people feel uncomfortable and worried about things happening on our planet. Cane uses a minimalistic setting for attracting maximal attention to the main idea of her video art. In some way it is almost a performance, where we have to watch the destruction of an object due constant heating. It metaphorically demonstrates the consequences of ice melting in northern regions. It is almost like telling the audience directly "Look what is going to happen to all of us, if you keep ignoring it". This is a catastrophe and it will not happen in thirty or forty years, this is happening right here and right now. Most people don't see how global warming will affect their lives in the future. But the most visible damage is growing bigger and bigger for people living in the Barents Sea area. Norwegians, Swedes, Finns and Russians have already felt the huge impact of climate change. That is why this work gives us a strong feeling of encouragement for people from different countries to unite in order to save the planet for our descendants. The inscription inside the glass says "Stop global warming together" in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Russian at the same time, which reminds about the importance of collaboration for solving this problem as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the time and heat will do its job. Cane gives us a witty way of looking at the northern region agenda.
Alexandra Cane collaborated with Anastasiia Aleksandrenko to use two different tools - video art and painting - for major impression. Anastasiia is a visual artist. For this work ("Flow") she used simple but strong colors to represent nature of north countries. We see how blue and white colors combine and flow together with red blotches as symbols of nature's pain. The art piece attracts a viewer with deep shades. But even white is not so clean, as a symbol of dirty environment. Anastasiia put her thoughts into painting to encourage people use all opportunities to stop global warming as fast as possible.

And if the whole new generation of artists would act like that, then maybe we still have a chance to succeed in dealing with this issue.
