Theatre art always presents its audience an illusion that envelopes spectators and carries them away into the fantasy world. However, many people are curious about how this magic happens. Fortunately, photographer Anna Fedotova found a way to help those people.
Since childhood, Fedotova has been passionate about theatre and how it functions. The photographer states that looking at the process of how productions are being created always inspired her. When she established herself as a photographer, a series dedicated to one of her beloved areas of performance art appeared.
The "Backstage" series has been an ongoing project Fedotova has carefully developed since 2017. Her models never pose for the pictures because the photographer does her best to avoid being spotted. Like a professional hunter, she seeks those glimpses of "vulnerability" to preserve them in her imagery. Peculiar fact, Fedotova's interest lies not only in the area of picturing actors. She is interested in supporting staff as well. Young photographer truly believes that a theatrical performance is a complex organism that can function with the help of many small details that make it whole.

So, what is theatre in Fedotova's photo series? It's a place where people get united, and actors are freed from the act and can be themselves. But what is most important – each element of this process is depicted with love and admiration. If this emerging photographer manages to preserve this element in her creative work, that will spotlight her among other colleagues.
