The watercolor technique is known as the most complicated one in graphic art. One slight mistake – and the whole image may be ruined. But this fact never stopped artists from mastering their skills in this area – Anastasia Kozlova is one of them. Her style combines the tradition of Soviet and British classical illustration schools. Due to that, her imagery is full of light and high-key colors.
It is not a coincidence – while developing her art career, Kozlova has become a member of the International Watercolor Society of Russia and the Society of Scottish Artists. This achievement demonstrates her passion for making her creative work recognized in the international community. Another important thing about this artist is that in 2018 she made a personal challenge – producing a piece a day. This way, she demonstrated to her colleagues in the art field how rich and interesting the life of a watercolor artist can be.
During the challenge, Kozlova produced a great body of work that covered a wide range of themes, but landscape sketches appeared to be her favorite ones. The artist herself mentioned that it is important for her to create works with a narrative. She does not work with any text, but her views may establish a storyline while admiring her drawings.

The artist's method can be defined as "studies of light" because this is Kozlova's main agenda in her creative practice. Abstract artist Sergei Brukhanov developed this innovative approach in the early 2000s in oil painting. However, our heroine works with figurative imagery, but it does not stop her from studying light in visual art.
It is quite noticeable that Kozlova almost sculpts her images, which signifies that we are dealing with a true master in this area. She prefers to imply as few pencil lines as possible and work directly with the color in her works. By doing that, the artist develops a strong visual approach. Most of her pieces are small-scale pictures due to the chamber genre she has chosen for her professional art life. Today Kozlova is not only an established artist with a strong portfolio, but she could also establish her school where she could pass her knowledge to those who wish to succeed in the are similar to hers.
